Improper storage or leaks can lead to soil, water, and air contamination. Once released, radioactive isotopes can persist for millennia—impacting crops, livestock, and ecosystems.
Notable examples include leaks at Hanford and contamination from uranium mining that still affects Native American lands today.
2. Health Risks
Exposure to radiation increases the risk of:
